چکیده

Re-sampling methods for estimating the distribution of descriptive statistics of functional data are considered. Through Monte-Carlo simulations, we compare the performance of several re-sampling methods commonly used for estimating the distribution of descriptive statistics. We introduce two re-sampling methods that rely on functional principal component analysis, where the scores were randomly drawn from multivariate normal distribution and Stiefel manifold. Illustrated by one-dimensional Canadian weather station data and two-dimensional bone shape data, the re-sampling methods provide a way of visualizing the distribution of descriptive statistics for functional data.

Sequential-Based Approach for Estimating the Stress-Strength Reliability Parameter for Exponential Distribution

In this paper, two-stage and purely sequential estimation procedures are considered to construct fixed-width confidence intervals for the reliability parameter under the stress-strength model when the stress and strength are independent exponential random variables with different scale parameters. The exact distribution of the stopping rule under the purely sequential procedure is approximated ...

A blended model for estimating of missing precipitation data (Case study of Tehran - Mehrabad station)

Meteorological stations usually contain some missing data for different reasons. There are several traditional methods for completing data, among them bivariate and multivariate linear and non-linear correlation analysis, double mass curve, ratio and difference methods, moving average and probability density functions are commonly used. In this paper a blended model comprising the bivariate expo...

Statistics for dental researcher, Part 2: Descriptive statistics

Descriptive statistics is the process of summarizing gathered raw data from a research and creating useful statistics, which help the better understanding of data. According to the types of variables, which consist of qualitative and quantitative variables, some descriptive statistics have been introduced. Frequency percentage is used in qualitative data, and mean, median, mode, standard deviat...

Estimating the Income Elasticities of Health Expenditures for Income Quintiles and Inequality of Health Expenditures Distribution

Background: Determining the income elasticities of the household health expenditures, especially for income deciles, leads to adoption of appropriate policies to control and manage health expenditures among income deciles. Therefore, the main purpose of this study was to estimate the income elasticities of urban household health expenditures by income quintiles, and also calculate inequality in...

A Resampling Technique for Relational Data Graphs

Resampling (a.k.a. bootstrapping) is a computationallyintensive statistical technique for estimating the sampling distribution of an estimator. Resampling is used in many machine learning algorithms, including ensemble methods, active learning, and feature selection. Resampling techniques generate pseudosamples from an underlying population by sampling with replacement from a single sample data...
